More Sun & More 'NATE' Today...

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Abundant sunshine will once again dominate our weather pattern for today and throughout most of the weekend. Expect highs in the upper 80s for the weekend - and still dry conditions.

The Pearl River will begin to fall over the weekend as well. Thanks to dry conditions during the summer months, the deluge of rain we received from LEE had a short term effect on the Pearl River. Like a dry sponge, the banks and land surrounding the river soaked up a good portion of the rain, dropping the river faster than initially expected.

Nate is getting strong in the Gulf. It is sitting over very warm water, so Nate should be a hurricane by later today. As of the early morning report, NATE had strengthened to 65 mph winds with gust up to 75 mph. NATE is still expected to stay a problem for the folks in Mexico.
