Recycled tires help kids play safer

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Your old tires are being used for a brand new cause. The City of Pearl's new ''Tread Town'' playground is officially complete.

Much of the playground's surface was created from more than 400 recycled tires. The tire surface has lots of cushion and will make playing safer for children.

''Tread Town'' is also ADA compliant. That means children with disabilities or those who use wheelchairs can easily access the playground with the help of walkways and wider equipment.

John Upton from Upton Tire Pros says, "It's ADA compliant, it's wide open, but all children of all ages are invited to come.''

The playground is located at City Center Park in Pearl.
