RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Ridgeland Police are investigating a break-in at the Apple Store at the Renaissance at Colony Park shopping Center. It happened around 4:30 Monday morning, and the thief remains on the loose.

Investigators say at least 20 computers were stolen from the store. The culprits broke into the store by smashing in the front window.

Ridgeland Police Lieutenant John Neal says the thieves went to the back of the store and took over 20 computers from a secure room, that has a keypad access to unlock it.

Officials at the Apple store would not go on camera. They are currently conducting inventory to get a dollar amount and number of laptops taken.

Authorities say they first noticed a car traveling at a high rate of speed in the roundabout on Highland Colony Parkway and Old Agency Road at 4 a.m., and police started patrolling nearby businesses.

About 20 to 30 minutes later, a break-in at the Apple Store was called in. The possible suspect vehicle was a dark colored S.U.V., which was headed south on Highland Colony.

Police say there is a surveillance video of the theft, but are unsure if it will be released to the media.
