JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Brandon teenager accused in the death of a man outside the Metro Inn in Jackson has been indicted for capital murder. The Hinds County grand jury also charged that Deryl Dedmon, 19, committed a hate crime, which is a sentencing enhancement.

The indictment alleges Dedmon killed James Craig Anderson while committing the felony crime of robbery. It also states that Anderson, who is an African American, was targeted because of his race.

In a press release, Hinds County district attorney Robert Smith said Dedmon will be arraigned in the near future and a trial date will be set.
