Late Rain & Ophelia Update

Posted: Updated:

This morning's fog posed a challenge for travelers along the eastern and coastal regions of the state. Expect an initial clearing during the mid morning hours from the fog, and then more clouds building in for tonight. Bright sunshine will push the temps to 90 degrees for the high, winds NE 5-10mph.

Tonight will be our best chance of rain developing in our area, overnight lows will be in the 60s, with a slight chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms. This will accompany partly cloudy skies. Friday looks pretty clear to kick off the Fall Season.

Saturday and Sunday will be in the mid 80s and plenty of sunshine. Another possibility of rain may hit late Sunday night going into early Monday morning.

We're keeping an eye on the newest named storm in the Atlantic, OPHELIA, which will continue to get strong and get closer to the US coast over the next few days. However it's still expected to weaken, despite this morning rise in strength.

The latest location of OPHELIA is 13.4N  47.0W, with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph, moving the west at 14 mph. There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect as of this morning.
