Tourism officials it is an effort to provide entertainment to people who work downtown and more.

"We want people to stay downtown, we want them to realize that there is life downtown, there is energy, there is pulse and there's something to do and so we have these events to bring people from work right downtown. You don't even have to go home, come in your work clothes and have a good time," said Marika Cackett with the Jackson Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Meanwhile, officials announced, Jackson is one of five capital cities in the nation receiving a federal grant for the design of beautification projects downtown.
