JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Saturday was a day of family fun for hundreds who gathered at Jamie Fowler Boyll Park for WellsFest 2011.

Wells United Methodist Church sponsors the event which raises money for various metro area charities.

There was dancing and lots of fun games for the kids.

Crowds brought lawn chairs and settled in to enjoy live music under the shade trees.

The day in the park turned into a day at the beach as kids built sand castles and played in a giant sand pile.

Forty five vendors were set up throughout the park selling their wares and raising money for this year's charity.

Proceeds will benefit The Mustard Seed.

It is a center for adults with developmental disabilities.

They will use the funds to expand their ceramics work shop and activities building.

"One of our main things is our art therapy through our ceramics work and canvasses and things like that but we're also very big into going into the community getting our adults with developmental disabilities out into the community, getting people to know about them," said Mustard Seed facilities director Joshua Zerbe.

WellsFest is celebrating its 28th year.
