The Assistant Adjutant General of the Mississippi Army National Guard received a significant promotion Thursday morning. The former Colonel Robert Thomas officially received the rank of Brigadier General during a promotion ceremony.
General Thomas has served in the U.S. military for forty years. During his service he's received numerous honors. One of General Thomas' most significant military accomplishments was cleaning up the corruption at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.
General Thomas says he's honored to receive his new rank. But he admits he couldn't have done it without the men and women he's served with.
"It's about all the warriors that I served with it's a great honor to wear the rank and it's a great honor to serve these warriors in Mississippi army and air," says the Brigadier General.
General Thomas says he'll probably serve in the military for about another year.
