AMR moves into new, modernized facility

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

There's a reason for the dimmed lighting in American Medical Response's new call center. Mood lighting is known to cut down on stress and fatigue, and it's perfect for the dispatchers and call takers, who all work 12-hour shifts.

There are lots of built-in comforts, including sit-stand consoles at each work station. "If a dispatcher decides they want to sit up or stand up, the console will actually rise up to them, to make it comfortable for them, so they're able to get up, move around, relax their limbs," says Communication Supervisor Franchon Jackson.

AMR's new 25,000 square foot facility, not far from their old one by the Medical Mall in Jackson, is designed to improve the efficiency of the company's 305 employees. There's a larger supply room, larger maintenance bays for servicing the ambulances, and a drive-through area that will move the emergency vehicles in and out quicker.

The Jackson Medical Mall Foundation secured the funds to pay for the $2.5 million facility. "It will enable us to continue to install newer technology, enable us to provide a greater variety of training for our folks, it's room for growth. We're gonna add new lines of business based here," says Public Affairs Director Jim Pollard.

Another new feature is a wall of remembrance honoring AMR employees who have lost their lives.
