Strength in Pink Finalist

Carolyn Miller

In 100 words or less, please describe an incident involving your nominee in which something they did or said serves as the best illustration of who he/she is:

While taking chemo, Carolyn nicknamed the drug the red devil, "The Blood of Jesus". She said this because her faith in GOD filled her with hope that she was healed. She was very ill during chemo, because she was taking heavy dosages, she had to go back for bone density shots, and her regular chemo would last almost all day long, but she kept her bald head held high (she refused to wear a wig, a scarf, or a hat)! She gave all of her family, the strength to go on with her, we had no reason to hang our head or fell sorry, because she was always up beat and happy. She never stopped going to church, or serving as our pastor's nurse. It didn't matter how bad she felt, she never stopped going and still hasn't stopped going.

In 500 words or less, please describe why you feel your nominee deserves to be honored for the Strength in Pink Award.  If possible, please provide specific accomplishments::

My aunt Carolyn Miller has been a breast cancer survivor for 3 years. She was diagnosed at stage 3, after going to the doctor for her regular physical just a month earlier. Since completing chemo and radiation she has given back in time, testimony, prayer, and actively working with local cancer societies. She held on to GOD's promise to her, that this trial was not for her, but for her to share with others, and that is what she has done for the last 4 years, even while taking chemo and radiation, she never gave up. She has been a true inspiration to her family, who have never left her side. She has given hope to numerous women, not only with her words, with her generous spirit, and prayers, but by sharing her story that she is a living testimony that GOD can and GOD will bring you out. She continues in her faith today along with her family by being involved with every cancer walk, fundraising for the American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen. Carolyn is a true inspiration to every one she comes in contact with, her sweet spirit, smile, laugh, and long conversations, (and she can talk too) leaves you feeling good and full of hope.
