It looks like the job news a lot of people have been waiting for. Channel 4 has confirmed that online retailer Amazon has chosen a location for one of its two promised Tennessee facilities in Murfreesboro.
The proposed location will be on Joe B. Jackson Parkway, according to published reports, and it could bring up to 1,200 jobs to the area.
We're told it is not a done deal yet, but that is not all.
The Tennessean newspaper is also reporting that the other facility will be built in Lebanon near Amazon's temporary distribution center off Interstate 840. That location could employ 300 to 500 more people.
Thursday, Gov. Bill Haslam announced he reached a deal with Amazon.com for the online retailer to begin collecting Tennessee sales tax in 2014 and add 2,000 full-time jobs at the new distribution centers. Amazon said it will invest $350 million in Tennessee.
Amazon will hold a job fair next week to fill about 2,000 other seasonal jobs at its distribution center in Lebanon.
Those hired will pack and ship customer orders. Amazon is looking for workers with experience operating a forklift.
The job fair is set for Thursday, Oct. 13 at the Mill at Lebanon on North Maple Street. It is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The seasonal employees will start work this month and wrap up in December. The pay starts at $10.50 per hour.
