Nearly picture-perfect weather has the 152nd Mississippi State Fair off to a good start.
Last year's event set attendance records and so far this year, the crowds are keeping that record pace.
Fair officials estimate about 140,000 people have visited the fairgrounds since the gates opened Wednesday evening.
"We're real happy so far and the vendors are very, very pleased. In fact, most of them are up. I guess the people that are coming are eating more than the ones that were here last year," said Billy Orr with the Miss. State Fair Commission.
Officials say there are a lot of activities that are free. They say the circus is the most popular attraction that doesn't cost to attend.
The fair continues through October 16.
