East Federal Building up for auction

The old Eastland Federal Building Courthouse in downtown Jackson is being auctioned off.

The property is currently listed on the GSA auctions website.

The Eastland building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 as part of the Smith Park architectural district.

It was built in 1934 as a post office and U.S. Courthouse.

Bidding on the property ends Wednesday at noon.

The new U.S. courthouse sits across from the downtown post office.
