Freeze Warning & Frost Advisories In Effect...

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Freeze warnings were issued for this morning for counties along the Mississippi River north of I-20. The concern for dangerously low temps also leaned into the north central and delta region of the state.

The following counties were placed under the warning with concerns for freezing affecting outdoor plant life - Yazoo, Warren,Issaquena,Humphreys, Holmes, Leflore and Sunflower and further north.

Sunshine today will thaw all counties out, giving us a quick rise in temps into the 70s. Temps will still stay slightly below the norm for this time of the year. Winds will be north at 5-10 mph. Early wind chills near freezing and overnight nearly the same.

Saturday and Sunday expect more sunshine and warmer weather with a few clouds mixed in. The additional moisture will enhance the 'warmer feel' we will have over the weekend. And temps will rise into the 80s by next week with a better chance of rain.
