Danny Glover speaks at MS International Film Festival

The Mississippi International Film Festival is in its final stages for the year of 2011.

Sunday morning the festival continued with the Coupe De Gras awards ceremony held at the King Edward Hotel in downtown Jackson at 11 a.m. Awards were given out to the best films in several categories.

Also on hand, actor and civil rights activist Danny Glover was in attendance at the ceremonial brunch.

Glover, who starred in the film "Freedom Song", shown Friday night spoke and was the guest speaker for the day. He spoke about his brief time in the south as a child on briefly growing up in the south and how he grew up during the times of racial discrimination.

We had a chance to talk with the actor who says he knew about the Freedom Riders as a child.

"I was inspired by the Freedom Riders. I was 13, 14 years-old during that period of time and...uh...I wanted to emulate them," Glover said.

The film festival continued with two more movies that were shown at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Russell C. Davis Planetarium downtown.
