Long lines form for Swamp People

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The lines began forming Sunday morning at 3 a.m. for two of the stars of the popular cable television show, Swamp People.

Lines snaked through the Bass Pro Shop in Pearl and out the door as fans stood in line for more than three hours to have a few moments with Troy and Jacob Landry.

Store officials say people came from five states and as far away as the Carolinas for autographs and pictures.

The show is about alligator hunting in Louisiana and has drawn a huge national following.

"Well a lot of it, I think is the beauty of the swamp. People like to watch the show for the beauty. Some watch it for the danger and excitement of catching the alligators. I think a lot of people watch it for my singing, watch it to hear me sing on T.V. or say shoot 'em. Shoot 'em, that's right," said Landry of Swamp People.

Crowds were estimated at over 5,000 and it got to the point some people had to be turned away because too many showed up for the celebrity appearances.

The Landry's began signing autographs at noon and went until 4 p.m.
