Man crashes SUV while being pursued by cops

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police are searching for a motorist who caused a wreck while fleeing officers. 

It happened just after noon Monday on Raymond Road near Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. 

The driver of a green Chevy Suburban struck a white Ford Expedition.

A female driver of the Ford was hospitalized. 

The man fleeing police in the Chevy ran into the woods.

A motorist on her way to work witnessed what happened. Janna Kilpatrick says, "The car came on my left hand side of my vehicle, about 70 miles an hour, he was speeding. Ok, there was about five or six cars in front of me and I was trying to slow down to see what he was gone do, cause when you come up over that hill, you can't see cars coming. and, when we come to the top of the hill, she went to slide over for him to go around her and then he slid and she slid back, and then he just floored it and hit her."

The woman driving the Ford was taken to a local hospital.

The Chevy Suburban sustained extensive damage from the violent impact.

The front and rear axles were ripped entirely from the vehicle.
