The U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program for the 2011 Christmas season kicked-off Wednesday morning. Mayor Harvey Johnson, Jr., announced the details at City Hall opening the season for toy drop offs and recipient registration.

The annual toy drive involves a partnership between the city of Jackson, the U.S. Marine Corps, the Metro Jackson Attractions Association and Walgreens. Registration for the program begins this Saturday, and the mayor is confident Jacksonians will answer the call to help families that have hit hard times. @

"We're going to provide a little hope, a little joy, a little happiness to children who are in need here in the metro area," Johnson said.
