Warm, Rain & Winter

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The start of the work week is reaping the benefits of a perfectly placed high pressure system to our east. Plenty of sunshine, thanks to high pressure, and a strong breeze from the south east. Temps will climb above the norm for this time of the year.

Tonight we'll see an increase in moisture and clouds will thicken up a bit. Winds will continue to push out of the south at 5-10 mph. A battle between warm and cool air to our west will help set the stage for some showers by mid week.

We've been abnormally dry for the past few months, so the rain expected on Wednesday is actually much needed precipitation. The front will slice through the already warm and moist air that will be in place. We may see a few severe storm watches and warnings.

Immediately following the rain MUCH, MUCH colder air will take over. Temps will drop dramatically by over 10 degrees below the norm for this time of the year. So after the brief need for an umbrella, get the coats out next!
