JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
The Mississippi Learning Institute at Jackson State University received a big financial shot in the arm Monday.
The institute received a $700,000 grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
The announcement was made during a press conference Monday morning at Emmalee Isabele Elementary School.
The grant money will be used for a two-year "Parents as Teachers" project that helps parents prepare their children for public school.
Mississippi Learning Institute has the only nationally recognized public school-university partnership in the state.
