When you head out to the store consider donating a can or two from your purchase to help out Mississippians in need.
A Cline Tour bus is being filled with food to go to the Mississippi Food Network. So far, the community has donated non-perishable items, plus Thanksgiving favorites like turkeys and hams. The effort is called the "Stuff the Bus Food Drive." The goal is to provide 100,000 meals to disadvantaged Mississippians.
Marilyn Blackledge who works for the Mississippi Food Network says, "we're trying to prepare holiday boxes for 120,000 people that our member agencies give for the Thanksgiving holiday and of course we'll be serving Christmas boxes for people."
"It doesn't have to be a lot it can just be one can of food, but that one can of food might feed a whole family for a meal, it makes that much difference, says Richard Schwartz, one of the food drive sponsors.
The bus is located at the Kroger in Flowood at Castlewoods Thursday until 7:00 P.M. It'll also be parked at the Kroger in Madison at Colony Crossing on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.
