Local school kids learn the art of giving

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Typically, the Salvation Army is giving back to the community. But on Friday, local school kids did the giving.

Gifted students in third through fifth grade from North Jackson Elementary school toured the Salvation Army Friday morning. Over the past several weeks, the students learned about giving back by teaming up with the Salvation Army. The children donated fifty bags of canned goods, nearly one hundred bags of clothing, and money to the organization.

Third grader Jamal Williams says, "some people don't have a home, clothes or food and we can help them by giving them the stuff they need."The students say they're still collecting money for the Salvation Army.
