Posted: Updated:
RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Rankin County residents were cleaning up into the night from mid-day storms Tuesday.

Power lines and trees were toppled by high winds on Old Whitfield Road around 11:00.

One tree landed on the cab of a Ford pickup.

The driver of the pickup was not hurt.

Several neighborhoods were in the dark still when residents returned home Tuesday evening.

Entergy crews were on scene, working along dark roads, to get the power back on to several hundred residents.

As of 6:00pm, some roads remained closed where the linemen were working.
