Storm leaves damage, power outages in south Jackson

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Tuesday's storm left damage in south Jackson as it tracked along Interstate 55.

Gusty winds peeled off a piece of sheet metal from the roof of a Shell Gas station.

Nearby on Terry Road, homes and businesses were left in the dark when a power pole snapped, causing a significant outage to that area.

Just before 6:00pm, there were 1,500 customers in the metro area still without service.

Entergy officials hope to have all power restored by the late evening.
