MHP investigates fatal crashes this holiday travel period

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Two people have died in accidents since the start of the Thanksgiving Holiday Travel Period.

As of midnight Friday, M.H.P. Master Sgt. Johnny Poulos reported that one person was killed in a traffic accident Thanksgiving morning in George county.

The second fatality occurred in the Hattiesburg district.

The highway patrol began tracking the holiday travel stats Wednesday at six p.m.

There have been 34 people injured in accidents.

State troopers have investigated 104 collisions, made 85 DUI arrests and issued 3, 648 citations.

The Thanksgiving Holiday Travel Period ends Sunday night at midnight.
