Gunfire Sunday leaves one dead and two injured

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Gunfire erupted Sunday night leaving one man dead and two others injured in the Capital City.

JPD Officer Colendula Green says police are on the scene of that homicide investigation in the 1200 block of Corinth Street.

The 911 call came in at 8:45 p.m. to JPD.

Investigators say the altercation involved three men.

One man was pronounced dead while two others suffered gunshot wounds.

"Right now we have one person deceased and two people shot this time who was transported to local hospitals. We are just trying details so it's too early to determine to motive right now. We are still investigating this incident," added Officer Green.

Authorities say the two men injured did receive life-threatening injuries. One man is currently under-going surgery after being shot in the head. Police say the other man injured was shot in the abdomen. None of the names of the victims have been released by authorities and no additional details were available at news time.
