Jackson police have a man in custody who may be connected to Sunday night's triple shooting that left two dead.

36 year old Melvin Gibson was arrested and charged as a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Officer Colendula Green also tells us detectives are investigating Gibson's connection to Sunday night's shootings.

Gibson was convicted in 2009 for possession of cocaine and methamphetamine, and in 1999 he was convicted of aggravated assault with a weapon. Officer Green says he was also arrested several times by JPD.

31 year old Victor Williams was shot in the head Sunday night and later died. Williams was on parole for a 2001 armed robbery conviction in Rankin County.

A second victim, 21 year old Terrace Jenkins died Monday afternoon from his injuries. A third man, 23 year old Ricky Archie was listed in stable condition, he was shot in the stomach, shoulder and hand.

The shootings happened Sunday night around 8:45 at 1239 Corinth Street.
