
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Jackson State quarterback Casey Therriault is the Southwestern Athletic Conference offensive player of the year.
Grambling linebacker Cliff Exama and Prairie View A&M defensive end Adrian Hamilton shared defensive player of the year honors in balloting released Tuesday by the SWAC.
Jackson State defensive end Joseph LeBeau is the top newcomer and Arkansas-Pine Bluff quarterback Benjamin Anderson is freshman of the year.
Therriault threw for 3,808 yards and 27 touchdowns. Exama is a 3-time first-team pick, and has a league-high 129 tackles, including 17.5 for loss.
Hamilton led the nation with 19.5 sacks and was second in tackles for loss (26½).
LeBeau is a junior college transfer whose 15.5 sacks is second nationally.
Anderson is a redshirt freshman who was third in the conference with 1,876 passing yards.
