Man charged in multiple sexual assaults, robberies
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Metro police have charged a man who is alleged to be an accomplice to another man suspected in the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl.
Rony Sorto, 23, a native of El Salvador, is charged with robbing the parents of the young girl while she was raped by Olbin Euceda, 26, at the family's Overlook apartment on Bell Road on Nov. 20.
Sorto is also suspected of being in the United States illegally.
Police said the 11-year-old's mother had just returned home from a store and was returning to her car after carrying in several grocery bags when she was approached by a stranger who police later identified as Euceda.
Authorities said Euceda pulled a pistol and ordered the mother back into the apartment where he and Sorto robbed the family of electronics and other items.
Sorto, who had been jailed on an unrelated weapons charge, admitted to his involvement in the Nov. 20 robbery, as well as a Nov. 17 robbery and sexual assault of two women at their apartment in the Hickory Trace complex on Bell Road; a Nov. 5 robbery of a couple and their three young children inside their home at Harding Place Condominiums; and two robberies in Smyrna.
Sorto faces two counts of aggravated robbery and more charges are pending, police said.
Euceda is jailed while facing 12 counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated rape and one count of child rape.
Police give credit to members of the Nashville Hispanic community for assisting in leading officials to Sorto and Euceda.
