I, like most folks, don't really enjoy paying taxes.
I do; however, feel a responsibility to pay my fair share.
It is my belief paying taxes is a matter of fairness.
There is a bill in Congress for online and catalog companies to start paying sales taxes on their sales.
You know it is must be time when Governor Haley Barbour, who is the head cheerleader for no new taxes, comes out in support of the bill.
In fact he said it best.
"It's not fair for the businesses on Main Street and the shopping centers of every town and county in Mississippi, to have to pay a 7 percent sales tax when some great, big internet company doesn't," said Gov. Haley Barbour.
Local businesses are the backbone our communities.
They certainly pay state and local taxes, they employ our friends and families, and they also support our local charitable organizations.
Please remember our local businesses before you buy through the internet or catalogs.
