MADISON, MS (WLBT) - Randy Watkins is stepping down as tournament director of Mississippi's premiere golf event.
He was tournament director for six years.
Watkins told WLBT Sports via phone interview that he is resigning from the annual event to concentrate on other business interests.
Watkins is the sole owner of three local golf courses and says he must devote all of his time to that, which he could not do while serving as the tournament director of the state's PGA event.
During his six years as director, Randy says he is very proud of helping raise over six million dollars in charities.
In those six years, the economic impact to the state was over 120 million dollars.
