Horse gets loose on Interstate

Posted: Updated:
PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A runaway horse posed a problem for Pearl authorities in the rain Friday morning. The horse had gotten loose from where it was being kept on Old Whitfield Road and made its way to Interstate 20.

Pearl police spokesman Butch Townsend says the horse caused two accidents on the interstate, but there were no injuries.

Multiple law-enforcement agencies worked together to corner the animal on the shoulder of I-20 near Airport Road around 11:00. It was then sedated and loaded into a trailer.

Lieutenant Townsend says the owner will be billed for all the work and will be cited for keeping the horse in a residential area.
