HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
A trio of car thieves led state troopers on a high speed chase on Interstate 55 Wednesday night.
Authorities said it all started after MHP received a call for assistance from Copiah County to find a stolen vehicle.
The stolen silver Mitsubishi Galant was spotted by a trooper who attempted to pull the vehicle over. But, the driver and two passengers fled and a chase ensued on I-55 North.
They eventually crashed just south of the Byram exit. Two male suspects, passengers in the vehicle, bolted into a wooded area.
They were taken into custody south of Siwell and west of Terry Road. One was treated for a head wound at the scene.
WLBT has learned they are both 18 year olds from Jackson, but their names have not been released. They each face a variety of charges.
The driver remains at large.
MHP was assisted by Terry Police, Metro One Helicopter, and the Hinds County Sheriff's Department.
