Fatal Shooting In Jackson

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A 46-year-old man was shot to death in Jackson Thursday night. Officer Colendula Green said the black male was traveling with his wife on Walnut Street when he was shot inside his pickup truck.

Officer Green said the man was shot in the chest and continued driving until he crashed his pickup into a house in the 700 block of Porter Street. A woman and baby were inside the house. They were shaken up but not injured.

The man's wife who is 39 year's old had to be extricated from the vehicle. Both were taken to a local hospital. The man died shortly after he arrived. His wife has non life threatening injuries. Their identities were not released.

Officer Green said there have been 54 homicides so far this year, there were 41 last year.
