VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) - Vicksburg Mayor Paul Winfield is being replaced as city attorney in Port Gibson.
Winfield, elected mayor of Vicksburg in 2009, has been attorney for Port Gibson for six years.
Port Gibson Mayor Fred Reeves tells says the seven-member city board voted to replace Winfield on Thursday.
Reeves did not cite a reason for the change. Reeves says the board is interviewing candidates to replace Winfield.
Winfield is paid $89,340 as Vicksburg mayor. He was paid at least $30,000 annually as Port Gibson attorney plus $2,500 to $3,000 for handling bond issues.
Winfield says he was not prohibited from holding both offices.
The new board of mayor and aldermen in Port Gibson was elected in November and sworn in last week.
