STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi State defensive tackle Fletcher Cox has decided to enter the NFL draft instead of return to school for his final year of eligibility.
The 6-foot-4, 295-pound junior from Yazoo City, Miss., had 56 tackles this season, including 14½ tackles for a loss and five sacks. He was named the SEC defensive lineman of the week four times and was named to the AP's All-SEC first team.
He also blocked five kicks during his career, including a field goal attempt during Mississippi State's 23-17 victory over Wake Forest on Dec. 30 in the Music City Bowl.
Cox said in a statement he appreciates "everything Mississippi State has done for me to help me get to this point" and that he couldn't pass up the opportunity to play in the NFL.
