Jackson Police were on the scene Friday night of the first homicide investigation of 2012.
JPD Officer Colendula Green says shortly before 10 p.m. officers were called to the 2800 of Bishop Street.
There they found 34-year-old Charlie Sherrod fatally shot outside his residence. Sherrod suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators have very few leads. No motive has been established, and no suspects have been identified.
There were 54 homicides in 2011 and 41 were recorded in 2010.
