JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
This morning the moisture in the air was overwhelming; creating traffic concerns connected to the weather forecast. Dense fog advisories were issued early this morning for nearly all counties in our viewing area. Visibility dropped to below 1/2 mile in most areas along the Mississippi River and to the south of I-20. Expect showers, although light, to stick around most of the morning going into the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 60s with a 80% chance of rain.
Tonight the chances of rain stay on the higher side of the scale; maintaining a 90% chance overnight. Fog is expected to revisit us again, possibly prompting another Dense Fog advisory for Tuesday. A stationary front across the state will keep our chances of rain fresh throughout the overnight period as temps stay in the upper 50s for the overnight lows.
Inaugural Tuesday is expected to be wet one as well, our chances of rain stay at 90% for Tuesday morning. Showers could even turn to severe storms because of the abundance of energy in the general area with the movement of air masses over our area. Winds will be from the south and shifting north throughout the day. Much cooler and clearer skies are expected on Wednesday.
