UTICA, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
A man was air lifted to the hospital overnight after a fight at a Utica night club escalated into gunfire.
Captain Joseph Daughtry with the Hinds County Sheriff's Department said the shooting happened at Myles Café at in the 1038 Griffin Road.
Around 2:45 Sunday morning witnesses told investigators that 36-year-old Marvin Lee Ross of Utica got into an altercation with several people in the café.
Investigators said Ross left the building and retrieved a hand gun.
"He came back into the club, fired multiple shots, striking an individual multiple times. When deputies responded they were able to get vehicle information and a very alert Utica Police officer was able to stop the vehicle with the assistance of the Hinds County Sheriff's Department," said Daughtry.
The unidentified shooting victim is listed in critical condition at University Medical Center.
Ross is charged with aggravated assault and is being held without bond at the Hinds County Detention Center.
