Rain chances return

Posted: Updated:

The dry weather we've enjoyed this weekend is about to give way to clouds and rain. I expect clouds will increase through the night, allowing for much warmer weather than the last few nights. In fact, most areas will remain in the 40s through the night.

Moisture and temperatures will increase on Monday. A few light rain showers are possible from the morning through the afternoon. Highs near 70.

By Tuesday, a cold front will still be west of our area. Temperatures will warm into the lower and perhaps middle 70s ahead of the front. Though we're still about 40 hours away, it looks like the cold front will come through early to mid afternoon Tuesday. This will be near our peak heating for the day. That may help a few storms to be on the heavy side as the front comes through. It does not look like we'll have significant severe weather, however, as all the ingredients needed won't be in place.

The rain will end Tuesday evening, with clouds departing by Wednesday morning. Much cooler air will filter in Wednesday. Highs in 40s to lower 50s.

Beyond Thursday, the forecast gets rather unclear. There are signs of another cold front trying to move into our area next weekend. This front may stall to our north, keeping us mainly dry and warm...or it may stall over our area, giving us clouds and high rain chances. We'll fine tune the details for next weekend's weather this week, so check back in our later newscasts or follow me on Facebook by clicking here.
