Storms Are On The Way

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The beginning of day didn't indicate much in the way of moisture in the atmosphere, but nonetheless showers are expected to arrive this afternoon. A cold front slicing through the Midwest will drag in the 80% chances of rain in the afternoon hours; highs will be in the mid 70s. Breezy conditions are also expected, with winds from the south at 10-20 mph.

Tonight is really when the heaviest of the rainfall is expected to arrive. Maintaining an 80% chance of showers that will fall to a 40% chance during the late night hours. Winds will slowly begin to shift from the south to the north. That's indicating the movement of a cold front through our area; enhancing our chances of rain during the evening.

Tomorrow's weather is expected to clear up rather quickly with the movement of the front. Additionally, the much cooler air mass is going to be the dominant feature, with temps dropping by more than 25 degrees for the afternoon high. The expected high, along with clear and sunny skies, will be in the lower 50s. And the winds will be from the north at 5-10 mph. The next significant chance of rain holds off until Saturday.
