JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
About a hundred people came out to Highway 80 in Jackson early this morning for the "Uplifting You" 5-K Run.
The race began and ended at the Metro East Church of Christ, where morning Meteorologist Paul Williams is pastor.
Winners clutched their trophies with the satisfaction of knowing they helped a good cause. Proceeds from the race go towards the church's food pantry and gymnasium.
The rain didn't hamper the race, which included running and walking.
Bennett Randman won in the walking category.
"The course is flat and friendly. Not too many turns. You got through these old neighborhoods, it's like going back in time. Everywhere you go there's history," Randman said.
