JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

An SUV overturned in an early evening accident Sunday on a Jackson interstate.

The single vehicle crash happened in the southbound lane of I-55, just south of the Pearl Street exit.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. the driver of a dark colored sports utility vehicle apparently lost control and flipped.

The vehicle landed on its roof.

We are told one person was transported to a local hospital.

There was no word on their condition Sunday night.

Traffic was backed up for a considerable distance while the wreck was cleared.
