Tornado Watch until 6am

Posted: Updated:

Much our area remains under a Tornado Watch until 6am. Numerous bands of showers and embedded thunderstorms are ongoing across central and south Mississippi. These storms will continue over areas that are favorable for them to become severe.

Several weather warnings were issued for parts of our area late Sunday night. There have been no reports of damage.

Conditions will remain favorable for severe weather, including tornadoes, through the pre-dawn hours, but the overall risk of severe weather appears to be on a downward trend as storms have had a difficult time sustaining themselves over western part of the area.

A cold front will race to our east thorough the early morning, ending the chances for severe weather.

The areas most likely to see strong and severe storms are north of I-20.

Important Tips:

If a WARNING has been issued for your area, seek shelter immediately.  That means a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM or TORNADO has been spotted in your area or you are in the path of the storm.
