Mental competency hearing set for standoff suspect

Posted: Updated:
MADISON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The man at the center of last week's standoff with authorities in Madison County is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Rodney Wayne Hill, 57, will go before a judge in Madison County Chancery Court for a lunacy hearing to determine if he's mentally competent.

Last Thursday, law enforcement officers surrounded Hill's home after he reportedly pulled a gun on his neighbor.

Hill managed to slip out of the house undetected and spent the night hiding in the woods.

The next morning, Hill surrendered himself to veteran reporter and anchor Bert Case before being arrested by Sheriff Randy Tucker and a deputy.
