A temporary water contact advisory is issued for Town Creek in Jackson.
The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality issued a temporary advisory due to a wastewater discharge from Baptist Hospital into the city's storm water collection system.
The advisory extends for a portion of Town Creek from Fortification Street to the confluence with the Pearl River.
A contractor for the hospital corrected the problem and will continue to monitor the line.
MDEQ staff will watch bacteria levels and water quality.
People should avoid all contact with Town Creek and should not eat fish from the water until further notice.
A temporary water contact advisory released December 20th for Caney Creek in south Jackson is also still in effect, from Highway 18 downstream to McClure Road.
