JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
The mild start to the day is almost eerie; with it being so warm,mild and you can literally 'smell' the rain on the way.
That 'smelling' of rain is actually a dramatic change in the moisture content in the atmosphere which is proceeding a front that's creating significant storms in Texas and Louisiana - headed our way.
We'll have plenty of energy to feed the storms, highs will be in the 70s with winds from the south east. We'll maintain a slight chance of showers in the afternoon hours - at least a 40% possibility.
Tonight the showers are expected to kick in, dumping plenty of rain statewide. Showers and thunderstorms likely in the evening then showers and T-storms after midnight. Our chances of rain will rise up to an 80% chance; particularly in the late night hours going into early morning Thursday. And the winds continue from the south east 10-15 mph.
Tomorrow don't even question or hope for a dry start to the day - RAIN, RAIN, RAIN.... we're expecting a 90% chance of showers. Also, anticipate a very messy commute to work on Thursday morning and we may be wrestling with a few severe storms - the timing depending on the movement of the front through our area.
