JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Scattered showers greeted us this morning, making for a somewhat messy start for our commute to work and school in the morning hours.
Estimate rainfall amounts topped more than 2-3" in the last 18 hours in many areas around the state. Flood concerns along the rivers and tributaries have been raised; and puddles on the road should be a main concern.
Today the rain ends by mid morning for most areas, high of 73 degrees and winds SW 10-15mph.
Tonight will be much quieter under partly cloudy skies; and no more rain is expected. A cooler air mass is expected to take over our area as temps drop by a dramatic 30 degrees and winds are shifting as well. Cold breeze will jolt us back to the reality that its still winter from the NW 5-10 mph; wind chills fall into the 30s. Lows will fall to the mid to lower 40s.
Tomorrow we'll see a few clouds, but staying clear for the most part. Highs will be in the lower 60s; which is still well above the norm for this time of the year. Additionally, the winds will come from the northwest at 5-10 mph. The weekend is looking clear and mild during the afternoon with highs in the 60s. However the mornings will start off in the 30s.
