PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
What originally caught our attention about 46-year-old Tim Graybau was when we saw him in Pearl traveling with his dog and making the dog carry part of the load.
Graybau is originally from Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. He tells WLBT he decided 20 years ago that he was going to see the country by walking and that is what he has done.
"The main thing, you know how they got that old cliche', you know you have wasted your youthful life. I have enjoyed every minute of my youthful life. The Grand Canyon for instance. I have hiked both rims of the canyon, I have done the Appalachian Trail," said Graybau.
He thinks it's only fair that his dog carry his own food. Graybau also said, "He's carrying his own stuff so I can sit there and have companionship out here on the road you know. That's really what he is for."
This is the second time we have seen him in Mississippi in a year. He likes being here in the winter and says Mississippians are always offering him food.
"People are always nice that way, they always have been, they will help you if you need stuff."
Graybau says he is on his way to see his sister in Virginia Beach and when he does that he is going to leave the road and get a job.
"I have been wanting to get that job at Walmart that has been waiting for me for the past 20 years," he said.
Graybau has no second thoughts about the life he has chosen and is thankful for his health which has allowed him to do this for 20 years.
