Pedestrian struck and killed along I-20

WARREN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a man who was struck and killed along Interstate 20.

It happened around 7:00 Friday morning in Warren County, according to Cpl. Odis Easterling of MHP. He says the victim had experienced car trouble, so he pulled over and got out of his car. He was struck by a westbound vehicle as he walked toward Vicksburg, near Mile Marker 9.

The victim has been identified as Joseph Poindexter of Newellton, Louisiana.

Cpl. Easterling says the driver of the Ford Ranger pickup truck that hit Poindexter stopped upon realizing what had happened. He is identified as Robert Gaskin, 56, of Bolton. Gaskin was treated at a nearby hospital and released.
